Wild Minds Weekly: What will you do about Digital ID?

Hello friends,

Digital ID was announced in the UK last Friday.

For those that missed it, here's what Keir Starmer said:

“Today I’m announcing this government a new free of charge Digital ID -mandatory for the right to work...”

“Let me spell that out - you will not be able to work in the United Kingdom if you do not have Digital ID. It’s as simple as that.”

Doesn't leave much room for positive interpretation does it?

What is Digital ID?

It's a government-issued identity, stored digitally on your smartphone. It will be used to prove who you are - your name, age, residency, and if this goes through, by the end of this parliament you will not be able to work in the UK without it - the UK version is tied to the “One Login” platform and digital Right to Work checks.

But it's not just the UK, it's part of a wider move to put all of your data into a centralised database. That's exactly what Palantir has been commissioned to do in the US, and they've just announced they'll be investing ÂŁ1.5 billion into the UK (probably a coincidence right? I have my doubts.)

Why is it being put in place?

There are two ways they're trying to frame this:

1) A solution to the illegal migrant crisis - If employers have to check Digital IDs, illegal migrants won't be able to work, and they'll stop coming right?

Wrong.

That's not why they're coming, and who can blame them?

If I could leave a war-torn country, go to a country where I get put up in a nice heated hotel room, free food, and free healthcare, I would too.

Three realities destroy this argument.

1. To work in the UK you need to get a National Insurance number, which requires proving that you have the right to work.

2. No one who's hiring illegal immigrants cares whether they have the right to work in the UK or not.

3. It does not take much brainpower to see that this is not an effective solution. If you had a leak in your roof, you wouldn't fix it by mopping up the floor. You would fix it by going straight to the source.

They've created this problem by bringing the migrants over (it would be easy to stop them if they wanted to), incited tension and unrest amongst us, so that they could present this as the solution and people would willingly accept it.

2) Convenience:

It will 'streamline access' to public services, 'increase efficiency', and 'reduce wait times' because you won't have to fill out forms.

- straight from gov.uk

The government will lay the foundation for a system where they have access and control to every aspect of your life, but don't worry, you'll spend less time filling out forms!

The reason it's 'free of charge' is because the price is control over your life.

Convenience -> control.

What happens now?

While initially it will just be used to check your right to work in the UK, it won't stop there. Why would it? Once this is in place, it won't be hard to make people use it to access crucial services like banking, food, and healthcare.

There is a cage being built, and Digital ID is the first step.

You could be forced to comply with vaccination requirements, denied work or travel if you don't. You could have your food restricted based on environmental impact quotas. But most importantly, you could have your finances frozen for 'antisocial behaviour' and instant control over your spending.

This, combined with CBDC (Central bank digital currency) forms the foundation of a social-credit system for complete behavioural control.

What happens if you don't comply?

Fine, they'll lock you out. That's not theoretical, this has already happened.

In the last month Vietnam has closed 86 million bank accounts because they didn't provide biometric identification.

Also last month, videos were circulating that UK was going to enforce ID requirements to enter supermarkets. This turned out to be fake - this time. But once digital ID is in place, it's not much of a stretch is it, being forced to scan a QR code to enter a supermarket?

What are you going to do?

It's all well and good saying that you won't comply, and it's amazing to see that over 2.5 million people have signed the petition against Digital ID, but signatures won't stop this - my guess is that at best, they'll delay it.

Are you going to wait for that to happen?

I hope not.

Here's what you can do instead:

1) Access land

This is the foundation of freedom.

You need to have access to fertile, food-producing land, and a clean water source. That doesn't have to be through buying, you could rent, lease, or own it collectively in a community.

(If this isn't an option for you yet, don't worry - there's an easier option you can start with down below)

2) Join land-based community projects that produce their own food.

If you don't have the means or the desire to start your own project, you can join one. You get food security and sovereignty. No massive investment. No overnight life upheaval.

Land-based communities are the only true solution I can see. Food-security, strength in numbers, an independent system that can trade and thrive amongst itself, and the freedom to live your life according to your values.

As scary as this all may seem, the solution isn't to disconnect completely. It's to use the system to our advantage to build resilience so that if worst comes to worst, you can't be forced to do anything you aren't aligned with.

But you need to start now.
