Wild Minds Weekly: How to regenerate your body, mind, and soul
Hello beautiful people,
Who decides what we eat, when we eat, and why?
What is the actual link between sunlight and cancer?
What's causing your autoimmune conditions?
How can you use food to beat depression, anxiety, and drug/alcohol addiction?
How do you leave behind a career in acting, and film directing to pursue regenerative farming? And why?
I went to a church over the weekend to find out the answers to these very questions.
No, I'm not religious (although some of the talks were divine).
Sophia and I drove 6,000 kilometers across Australia to attend REGENERATE Health Summit - an event organised by Simon Lewis and Dr Max Gulhane, who we were lucky enough to speak to.
Bone broth was served, a carnivorous breakfast bowl devoured, and I found myself plugged into a machine getting pulsed with magnets to "reset my cell membrane". It was wonderful.
We'll explore each of those questions in more detail in future newsletters to do them justice, but in the meantime, these are the highlights and where you can find out more:
- Belinda Fettke dug to the roots of the lies that the food industry and nutritional guidelines are built on after her husband, Dr Gary Fettke, was banned from giving dietary advice by AHPRA, the agency that regulates health practicioners in Australia. That sounds pretty serious. You might be wondering, why? Well, he made the mistake of successfully reversing his patients severe diabetes (terrible!). How? By prescribing eggs and cheese (very dangerous).
- Dr Max Gulhane distilled a lot of medical research about the impact of sunlight on mortality/cancer into a nuanced and easy-to-follow presentation. Is it as simple "we've been lied to, get as much sun as you can"? Not quite, if you are a pale skinned ginger living in Australia, where the UV index can regularly peak above 11, it would be wise to not fry yourself to a crisp. That said... sunblock? A complete scam cooked up by large skincare companies. Do not put that poison on your body (as if you needed to be told that). I loved this talk, and we'll explore it further in a future newsletter.
- Natalie West perfectly blends science and spirituality as she guides us to becoming more conscious individuals. Her approach to Integrative Psychology for her patients takes into account the role the gut plays in mental wellbeing, the problems with the current approaches to mental health, and on a more philosophical level, how to navigate your life in modern society and forge your transformation.
- Dr Anthone Chaffee, some of you will know of him, joined us on video with a presentation called "Rethinking Autoimmnune" which challenged the mainstream narrative that autoimmune conditions are just "the body attacking itself". He explored why that's impossible, and made a compelling case for what the root cause could be (vegans probably won't like the answer).
- Rachel Ward used her skills in film-making to take take us on a powerful journey through the challenges of regenerative farming in a world of corporate farms and increasingly unpredictable climate, and what it takes to leave your old life to begin one of greater fulfilment.
It was an incredible day of learning, surrounded by phenomenal people (not a normie in sight).
I've got plenty of notes from the day so we'll explore them in greater detail in future newsletters. But until then, I highly recommend checking out their work.
That's all for today.
Get some land, build community, start farming, become your highest self, the usual.
To your freedom and independence,
Rob
